January 19, 2010 Sacramento ASA Meeting
West Sacramento did place a year moratorium on the city, however Haley let me know at the West Sacramento meeting that the city of Elk Grove was also meeting to repeal their ordinance. Sorry to say we had no one show to oppose or help the patients in Elk Grove and the repeal motion was approved on the consent calendar. Good news is that the ordinance they had sucked. With your help maybe we can make a better one!
Please let us know if your city has a hearing so we can make sure that the patients are protected!

Hi all!
Just a reminder that we have no meeting tonight. Our next meeting is 10/06 Tues at 7pm. If you are not aware ....last week here in Sacramento City we had a patient in east Sacramento area that after a police helicopter noticed plants in his back yard sent in a full team of officers and raided his home. He was legally cultivating. No drug charges were filed. I will be addressing this violation of privacy at city hall this evening. Anyone interested in attending we are the last item on the
agenda. I will be waiting to address this when they are hearing about accepting federal grant money to place homeland "security" camera's on our streets here in Sacramento. If I do not see you tonight I will next week!

We will be focusing on the upcoming Sac City ordinance, as well as our other usual topics (court support, Federal policy, action alerts, etc.). As you may know, the Sac City Council briefly discussed dispensaries last week, and referred the issue to the Law & Legislation Committee. It turns out that the committee will not hear the issue yet, since they're waiting for the Staff Report to be written. So, that gives us time to thoroughly
discuss the issues, and come to a consensus around our position and strategy -please attend to have your voice heard!
